Odell Thurman ILB Georgia 6’1 230 Jr.
By: Robert Davis

Odell Thurman redshirted as a freshman at Georgia, then left for Georgia Military Academy. When he came back to Georgia, he was ready to wreak havoc on the field. In his first season on the field for the Bulldogs, Thurman had 121 tackles, 18.5 for loss, 6.5 sacks, and 2 interceptions. Heading into his junior season, he was on pre season all american lists and became a Butkus semi finalist after finishing with 65 tackles, 11 for loss, with 3 sacks, despite missing time with injury.

On the field, Thurman is a terror. He has very good instincts, and just flies to the ball. He has very good closing speed, and moves well laterally. He is a very good athlete, and has very good speed for a linebacker. He’s strong and can really lay a lick on defenders. He should also be able to play outside with his athleticism and speed.

The main issue with Thurman is his size. He comes up a bit short in height and bulk. He may need to pack on weight to stay inside, or it may force a move to the weakside.

Thurman is a very good linebacker prospect. If he were 2” taller and 10lbs heavier, he’s a guaranteed first round pick. As it stands, he looks like a solid 2nd rounder. He will be an impact defender in the NFL, it’s just a toss up right now on whether it will be inside or out.
