New Free Agency Winners and Losers

Henry Tolbert WR 5'11 205 Grambling

By: Robert Davis

Tolbert began his career as a running back at Grambling, and had an impressive debut season. As a freshman, he ran for 381 yards on 53 carries, and added 391 yards on 31 catches as a receiver. He then moved over to receiver and caught 29 passes for 563 yards and six touchdowns as a sophomore. Tolbert blew up as a junior, becoming Bruce Eugene’s go to receiver. He finished with career highs across the board, finishing with 74 catches for 1,391 yards and 19 touchdowns. The numbers dropped as a senior with Eugene gone, to just 48 catches for 730 yards and four touchdowns.

The time Tolbert spent at running back has helped him as a receiver. He is very dangerous in the open field and is a threat to break off a big play at any time. He has very good quickness, and has very good cutting ability. He can start and stop very well and routinely makes defenders miss. He has a solid build for a receiver and can go over the middle to make plays. An intriguing option at the next level is that he has the ability to play both RB and WR, and could be used in both roles.

Tolbert has a solid build, but he needs to get stronger in his lower half. The extra length strength would help him break more tackles and be an even bigger threat in the open field. Tolbert also lacks ideal height. He does not appear to be as tall as his listed height, which is only average to begin with.

Henry Tolbert is a player that could surprise at the next level. He has a variety of skills and could be a multi purpose player for an NFL team. He may lack the ideal size for WR, but he can play football. His combination of skills could be used as an all around threat, much like the Saints have utilized Reggie Bush this season.
