Mike Jenkins CB 6’ 197 South Florida

Jenkins had a solid freshman season, finishing the season with 27 tackles and nine pass break ups on the year. As a sophomore, he had 38 tackles, two interceptions, and five passes broken. Jenkins showed more of an ability to make plays on the ball last year, breaking up 15 passes and intercepting one, to go along with 27 tackles. As a senior this year, Jenkins tied a career high with 38 tackles, while adding four tackles for loss, and three interceptions.

From a physical standpoint, Jenkins has it all. He has solid size, and matches up well with most receivers. He is also an excellent athlete, that shows the quickness and change of direction ability to keep up with receivers in and out of breaks. Jenkins has developed excellent ball skills, and knows how to locate the ball in the air and make a play on it.

Jenkins has all the talent, but he still needs work. He relies on his talent too much, and needs to become more aggressive on the field. He has the size to be a standout against the run, but he is not as active as he needs to be.

Jenkins is a player that has risen up the boards as the South Florida program begins to take off. His natural athletic gifts have been on display all year and are a big part of the Bulls’ success on the field. He has the talent and could work out well, which may end up hearing his name called in the first two rounds in April.
