New TT likes the FAs.
How else could this thread be on its 3rd iteration?

Who is to say it is TT in 100% decisions this off-season?

I said the last few years that any big FA signings will.says be credited to anyone but Ted lol. Nailed it!
But it's certainly possible he's bending because of everything. It makes sense.
He really hasn't done anything crazy anyways. |

I was mostly joking when I wrote that. But after typing it and thinking further on it, I cant say for sure that something different might be in play in who might be having an influence in some of the decisions thus far. Could very well be nothing and it is TT 100%.
Nothing is far off from previous seasons....Bennett being the outlier, but excellent value and a good contract for GB makes that less so. Given how many FA's have departed, signing an outside FA will not hurt in gaining compensatory picks for 2018.
Since GB is in position to have 4 comp picks in 2018, is this a year that TT might move around more in the draft (trade up) for targets and maybe not use the full 8 picks this year since 2018 has (potentially) 11 picks...or does he deal a future pick for something in the 2017 draft?
Fun times to speculate on this stuff _________________ Salary Cap Fantasy Football League

You've got to figure that the next wave of free agency is some combination of "crap, we didn't get one of those in the draft" and "crap, I gotta get in a camp." So it's a question of who blinks first- a team that doesn't want to get boxed in or a player who wants to keep playing football.
There are still a lot of guys out there. Not that I'm advocating Green Bay signing them, just that they are numerous and most would very much like to keep playing football. |

What do you think about bringing in some more RB's for camp competition.
Tyler Gaffney (every bit the athlete McCaffrey is)
and
Karlos Williams (a cheap Lacy with better hands)
Maybe even Asiata, always liked what he did for the Vikings
could be a 3rd RB/2nd FB, is better than average at the goaline and would answer our pass protection problems.
Draft Marlon Mack in the 3rd/4th and all set.
Mack/Monty/Michael/Gaffney/Williams/Jackson
Rip/Asiata
should be able to find 4-5 keepers in there. |

If the Packers draft an RB (in this class, it's likely) they won't need to bring in any competition. The reason they keep failing is because of defensive shortcomings. The problem with GB has never been, "if we only had a better RB, we could've gone to the Superbowl."
Fix the defense. Aaron will do the rest. _________________

Lot of FA RBs out there, no point signing any of them before the draft. A packers scout was quoted as saying they might double dip at RB in the draft, and if you end up doing that because there were two RBs available at exceptional value where you picked them, then it was pointless to sign the guy you signed before FA. |

I agree, but even if we don't find a RB we like, which is unlikely to happen, I still think FA RB's will be cheap after the draft. Charles and Peterson are still on the market IIRC. |

If we were going to sign an under the radar FA RB (not Charles or Peterson) then I want Grimes. |
